Hello to all,
Raiz Helping Hands began in the simplest way — with arroz caldo.
On November 1, 2017, during Kalag-Kalag, my siblings, cousins, and I decided to serve arroz caldo to families visiting the cemetery. We were still young then. Some of us were still studying, others were just starting to build our careers. We didn’t have much — no big funding, no formal structure — only our dreams and our happy hearts.
But that day, something shifted. Seeing people smile while eating something so simple filled us with joy. It wasn’t a grand event. It wasn’t a large crowd. It was just a small act of kindness — yet it meant so much to us.
After that day, we talked and asked ourselves, “Why not continue this?”
In honor of our grandparents, we decided to create something more intentional — and Raiz Helping Hands was born.
From then on, whether it was Christmas, New Year, the start of classes, or during typhoons and floods, we did our best to extend help — sometimes out of our own pockets, sometimes with the help of generous sponsors who believed in our heart for service.
Raiz Helping Hands is not just an organization. It is a reminder that even when you start with very little, compassion can grow into something meaningful.
What began with a simple bowl of arroz caldo continues today as a commitment to serve, to give, and to be a blessing to others.
